Stopping Abortion-One Life at a Time

Dear friend of the unborn,

HealthPartners is killing Unborn babies. Very few people know this, including those insured or employed by HealthPartners.

Since taking ownership of Regions Hospital, HealthPartners has sought to hide its direct involvement with abortion. Not a single reference to abortion or its abortuary can be found on the HealthPartners or Regions Hospital websites. Further, the abortuary has been given the very innocuous name of "GYN Special Services," hiding the real purpose of this facility.

The truth is that HealthPartners, one of Minnesota's largest health organizations, is killing unborn babies inside an abortuary it owns and operates. This abortuary is very unusual, being completely contained within Regions Hospital (formerly St. Paul-Rarnsey Medical Center) in St. Paul. Ob-Gyn residents with the University of Minnesota Medical School take a rotation through this facility, learning how to kill unborn babies. Abortions are committed into the sixth month of pregnancy at HealthPartners' Regions Hospital.   Latest statistics from the Minnesota Department of Health report that HealthPartners, inside its Regions Hospital, killed 733 babies in 2005. Throughout the years, this abortuary has reported killing between 600 and 1,200 babies annually.

A frustration for people has been the lack of health insurers who do not pay for abortions in their coverage. HealthPartners, though, has set itself as the worst offender, by not only paying for abortions in its insurance coverage, but actually aborting innocent children and training abortionists.

Enough is Enough!

HealthPartners needs to be held accountable for its direct involvement in killing unborn babies and furthering the pro-abortion movement by training future abortionists. We believe that HealthPartners can be persuaded to change. Anyone who has HealthPartners for their medical coverage is a voting member and, as with any board of directors, voting members are listened to, especially if there is a large response....

Petition Drive

HealthPartners' annual meeting is coming up in April. We are conducting a petition drive to gain signatures from everyone who wants to see the abortuary at Regions Hospital closed. These petitions will be delivered to the HealthPartners Board of Directors at its annual meeting. Enclosed is one petition sheet for you to get filled out. This can be done through your church, your neighborhood, and among your family and friends. If you need more petitions, feel free to copy them or contact our office for as many as you need. Use this letter or the enclosed brochure to explain the petition drive. Return the completed petitions to our office no later than March 31, 2007.

Boycott HealthPartners

If you currently have HealthPartners as your insurer and are in a position to change medical insurers, by all means do so. But make sure you communicate to the HealthPartners Board of Directors, its CEO, and the administrative contact vou have from HealthPartners why you are changing.

Also, boycott all non-emergency services at Regions Hospital. In the late 1980's, we led a boycott of this same hospital while it was still St. Paul-Rarnsey Medical Center. The directors of the hospital at that time publicly admitted that the boycott hurt financially. Another boycott now will cut into profits and get the attention of HealthPartners.

Literature Distributions

In October we began going to the different HealthPartners clinics around the area. Realizing that very few people know that HealthPartners is so deeply involved in abortion, we believe that it is important to reveal the truth to the patients and employees at these clinics. Each week one or two HealthPartners clinics are scheduled for a literature distribution. We hand out a brochure almost like the one enclosed. Placards are used to get the information out as well. So far, the schedules for these literature distributions have been sent out via email messages. With only a handful of volunteers helping out, a large number of brochures have been distributed and many people informed of the truth. Another dozen or so people would make it possible to reach thousands and thousands more.

Call, Write, Email

Communicate with the HealthPartners Board of Directors and its CEO, Mary Brainerd, your desire that they immediately act to close the abortuary at Regions Hospital. Let them know that the killing of unborn children is not in the best interest of HealthPartners and you are offended that abortions are being committed at Regions Hospital. The names and contact information are in the enclosed brochure.

Donate

We need your financial help to organize and coordinate this campaign to stop HealthPartners from aborting babies. Not only that, but having come off of our most successful year ever saving babies outside the abortuaries, we need your help to keep all of our life-saving work going forward. Your gifts to this ministry help save lives today.

Pray, Pray, Pray

This is the most important component of this campaign. Those who desire abortion to continue will not let go easily. The spiritual realities of evil that drive the killing of the unborn need to be combated with effective spiritual weapons: prayer and fasting. Please keep this campaign in your prayers.  We know that by God's grace all  things are possible. Through prayer and hard work, HealthPartners can be changed and the abortuary at Regions Hospital can be closed.

Your Brother in Christ,

Brian Gibson
Executive Director

P. S.   You can help hold HealthPartners accountable even if you do not have HealthPartners for your coverage. The medical insurance business is extremely competitive, always seeking new groups to insure. Anyone who is eligible for medical coverage is a potential customer (in HealthPartners' case, potential member) and can influence HealthPartners. Additionally, joining in prayer vigils outside HealthPartners' facilities, like Regions Hospital, shows the strong public sentiment against HealthPartners' ownership of an abortuary.  You can join in boycotting all non- emergency services at Regions Hospital, cutting into HealthPartners profits. You can help with our petition drive to deliver signatures to the HealthPartners annual meeting in April. And you can help us with the expenses for this important campaign with your donation to the ministry.
